Printing the same information on your cartons but need an alternative solutions to the expensive ink jet systems?
Universal MC-10 and MC-20 Series Mini-Coders are the smallest of the Universal's line of automatic roll coders. Designed for mounting directly on conveyor lines or packaging machinery, these coders are best suited for applying date codes or limited product information on cartons and other porous surface materials. The MC-10 series coders feature a 1-1/8" x 9.1" print area and the MC-20 series have a 2" x 9.1" print area. The patented, disposable, Reservoir Ink Cartridges provide automatic re-inking of the ink rolls during production. Recommended for character sizes of 5/8" and smaller. Use with #1150 coder inks.
Universal Mini-Coders are recommended for applications which require printing a small amount of code data on cartons or other flat surface materials. The unique inverted design enables the non-indexing Mini-Coder to print within ½” of the conveyor belt (within 1-1/8” of the conveyor belt with indexing models). The patented dual compression spring tension mechanism allows the unit to be installed on either side of the conveyor line without modification.
To make type changes easy, all Mini-Coders are equipped with quick change print drums. The print drum axle contains a stainless steel spring plunger which retains the print drum during printing but also enables the print drum to be removed by pulling it off the axle without the use of tools. Additional print drums are available to facilitate off-line code changes without stopping production.

Universal’s Reservoir Ink Cartridges plug right into the Mini-Coder for convenient, automatic re-inking of the ink roll during production. Standard models are supplied with RIBtype die fastening system, a dry Microcell ink roll and an anodized aluminum mounting bracket. Velcro die system and XF Neoprene ink rolls are optional.
Replacement Ink Rollers:
MICROCELL ink rolls are the most durable rolls available on the market today. This material is an extremely tough, hard density urethane foam which will last up to a year or more under normal conditions. It is recommended for use with Universal #1150 Ink or equivalent for printing on corrugated cartons and other porous surface materials. These rolls are re-inkable for maximum economy.

XF NEOPRENE ink rolls are made from extra firm density foam. Although not quite as durable as Microcell, XF Neoprene rolls offer slightly higher print quality and are recommended where 3 or 4 lines of type are required. These rolls can be used with Universal #1150 Ink for porous applications. These rolls are re-inkable for maximum economy.

NEOPRENE ink rolls are made from soft density foam material. Because this material has a larger cell structure, it is highly recommended for use with Pigmented Inks for carton printing on porous materials. Although this material is not as durable as XF Neoprene, it provides an acceptable print quality when a lighter touch is required. These rolls are re-inkable for maximum economy.
