Moistening brushes work best when the bristles are able to scratch into the dried glues to reactivate the adhesives. Brushes need to be cleaned every two weeks with a mild dish-washing detergent. Avoid using soaps that have hand softeners like the pink soaps. Brushes wear and should be replaced every 3-5 years.
