This plate can be removed without having to do a total tear down of the machine. After removing both side covers, the heater, and the oiler pad, remove the two screws holding the plate in and pull it toward the back of the machine. It is important to keep this plate clean of any tape residue. Avoid cutting the tape on the surface of this plate. If the plate is scratched up, replace it.
