PS-2200 Bulk Hot Melt Adhesive
Hot Melt adhesives are made from various combinations of resin (ethylene vinyl acetate for example), and wax along with other materials. The adhesive is applied hot and bonds as it cools. The cost per pound is more than with water based adhesives, but the speed of set is often so much faster that the increase production rates warrant its use.
Applications include automatic labeling, case and carton sealing, product assembly, pallet stabilization, and more.
Hot melt adhesives generally are less pervious to water than water based products, but they are also more sensitive to temperature changes. For example, most hot melt adhesives become very brittle when exposed to cold temperatures, and they begin to soften at temperatures above 160°F.
Hot melt adhesives come in sticks for use in glue guns or bulk for automatic applicators.
Product Type: A hot melt adhesive consisting of 100% thermoplastic resin.
Applications: Designed for use as a PSA labeling adhesive. May also be used as general product assembly hot melt adhesive for bonding various surfaces such as corrugated to corrugated, foam to corrugated/wood, and foam to foam using our Gluefast Meltcator, click here. May also be used in Daige hot melt roll coater for case making.
Features:
- High tack and virtually infinite open time due to the product’s pressure sensitive properties. It offers good flexibility with an excellent balance of properties of adhesion, heat stability, color and hot tack.
- Recommended application temperature 300-325F (150-163C).
- 180 Degree Peel Test = 6.1 lbs./in
- Molten Gardner Color = 7 (Tan/brown in color)
Application Equipment: General labeling equipment and can also be used in Gluefast’s hot melt roll coater. When used with the MELTCATOR (with standard corduroy roller) approximate coverage is .04-grams/square inch (.006 grams/square cm). Stronger bonds may require greater adhesive amounts.
FDA Status: Ingredients comply with regulations for use in Food Packaging Adhesives as per Regulation 175.105.
NOTE: Surfaces and information above are suggestions only … final tests for suitability remain the responsibility of the user. As with all hot melt adhesives the user must take care to avoid getting hot adhesive on the skin. Eye protection and protective clothing recommended. See MSDS for details, click here.
