This brush fits the TD2100 series Marsh gummed tape dispenser (both manual TDH and electric TDE) manufactured by MSSC, LLC.
To keep your brush moistening the best, clean the moistening brush weekly or monthly with Dawn dish washing detergent (or any soap that does not contain moisturizer) and rinse well. Also, make sure the tank is cleaned. The high point of the brush should point towards the front of the tank. Refill the water bottle with clean cold tap water.
If your brushes have a lot of build up from hard water, remove the water tank from the machine, flip the brushes, and allow them to soak overnight in the water tank. This will make help remove the buildup without further damaging the brushes.
Note: The RP40407 will not fit models manufactured before 2005 with the RP1712 brush.
2) When should I replace the moistening brush? If the brush is full of dried glues, if the brush is damaged, if the tape is getting wet but not sticking to the box are indications it needs to be replaced. Try to clean first, but as the most important function of the tape dispenser, it's vital the brush work.
3) How do I maintain the brush? A few drops of dishwashing detergent (without hand softeners) in the palm of your hand and then swishing the brush back and forth to remove the dirt and grime build up. Rinse well.
4) Do I really need a heater? With todays adhesives heat is not mandatory unless you are in a cold environment. Warm water works faster than cold, but cleaning the brush is more important in most cases.
5) Should I buy refurbished or used brush? The moistening brush is like a paint brush. Once the glues have dried in the bristles they are damaged. Removing the hardened glues will also remove bristles rending the brushes less effective. When adding the cost of shipping, a used brush is not a good investment versus the cost of new.
