This motor brush kit fits all Better Packages electric gummed tape dispenser motors. Each kit includes a matched pair of brushes. If you only need motor brushes and want to save on future shipping costs, order two kits and tape the spare set inside the motor cover for later use.
Worn motor brushes prevent proper electrical contact and can stop the motor completely. A common symptom is powering on the machine, pressing a key, and hearing only a click or faint buzzing sound. Most motors require both brushes to make full contact to operate, so if either brush is worn or stuck you may experience motor failure.
It is uncommon to wear the brushes down to nothing. In most cases, there is still some remaining carbon material when replacement is needed due to poor contact or brush hang-ups.
Installation Tip: Ensure the curve of each brush matches the curve of the motor armature. When reinstalling the motor caps, apply very light torque. The caps are plastic, and screw into plastic threading that is glued onto the metal. Overtightening break the threads off of the motor. If the cap threads break, the entire motor assembly will need to be replaced.
