Looking for a fast efficient way to dispense labels?
Label dispensers are simple machines that present a label to an operator. This can be done manually or semi-automatically.
For manual units, the label and liner is routed through channels and when the liner is pulled, the label splits from the liner and can be picked by the operator.
Large multi roll dispensers like the TAL-40M (pictured above) are great for production environments where a variety of label requirements can be at your fingertips.
We also offer manual handheld units that are great for mobile operations.
For electric units, the label and liner is routed through the machine, and when turned on, the machine dispenses about half of the label. When the operator takes the label, the machine cycles to place the next label in place. We call this "pick and stick".
Generally, your label dispenser should be at least 1/4 inch wider than the backing paper of the label you want to dispense. We offer dispenser widths of 2 1/2 - 16 inches. You want a dispenser that can dispense your widest label, and the same dispenser can also dispense narrower labels. It's uncommon to use and dispense labels wider than 6-8 inches. Most of the label dispensers we sell are 2 1/2 - 7 1/2 inches wide.
We offer two ways that labels can be detected by the machine: Micro-switch and Photo Eye. The micro-switch has a thin piece of metal that the label will physically make contact with. This style is good for clear labels that may have issues being detected by the photo eye. However, labels thinner than 2 mil can bend when making contact with the micro-switch, and the dispenser cannot present the label and cycle accordingly. The photo eye uses an optical sensor to detect labels without them having to make physical contact with anything. This can solve any issues caused by thinner labels. However, clear labels can present issues if the eye is not able to detect the label. We are happy to test your labels.
Please mind any clear or thin labels. If you do not have clear labels, then photo eye units are generally a safe bet. Labels should be on a 3 inch core, however some dispensers can handle various core sizes. Give us a call and we're happy to chat about a solution that's right for you.
